Haystacking

The art or act of muddling a clear point by introducing a litany of distractors.
In a corporate setting: "The CEO’s town hall was pure haystacking; she spent forty minutes on 'company culture' initiatives to avoid addressing the upcoming layoffs."

In a legal or debate context: "The defense attorney attempted to haystack the jury by introducing three dozen irrelevant character witnesses, hoping to obscure the lack of physical evidence."

In everyday life: "I asked him why he was late, but he started haystacking the conversation with a long story about his childhood dog and the history of the local transit system."
