Gone Wild
The term stems from the original r/gonewild community. Unlike professional adult sites, the "Gone Wild" philosophy is built on the idea of the "girl or guy next door" sharing explicit photos or videos for fun, attention, or exhibitionism rather than as a professional career.
• Amateur: Most posters are regular Reddit users, not professional adult stars.
• Self-Shot: Photos are usually "selfies" taken in mirrors or private bedrooms.
• Verification: To prevent catfishing or non-consensual posting, most "Gone Wild" communities require users to "verify" their identity with the moderators (usually by holding a handwritten note with their username).

The name is a direct reference to the "Girls Gone Wild" franchise that was popular on late-night TV in the 1990s and early 2000s, which featured college students flashing cameras at spring break parties. Reddit users adopted the name for the site's first major amateur adult community, and it has since become a standard naming convention for hundreds of niche NSFW subreddits.
