Still small voice

The Bible tells us that Elijah heard God's voice—a "still small voice"—after an earthquake and fire in I Kings 19:12. This incident is intended to demonstrate that God is not always silent and that He is not inert. God does not always need to reveal Himself in spectacular ways.
