Created around 2012-2013, MITE focuses on the survival aspect of Minecraft and generally makes the survival experience way more difficult. Some people might even call it "The hardest version of Minecraft", due to many hoops you have to do in your world to progress (e.g. To mine wood, you have to mine gravel to find flint.
