dating gridlock

It's the inability for guy #1 to confirm a date with gal #1 because guy #1 is waiting on gal #2 to confirm. But gal #2 can't confirm because she's waiting on guy #2. But guy #2 can't confirm because he's waiting on gal #1. So no one can confirm the date because they are in dating gridlock.

I sent a tentative invite to Michelle for dinner on Thursday night but I couldn't confirm because I was waiting on Jennifer to let me know if we were a go for Thursday. It turned out Jennifer couldn't confirm for me either because she was waiting on Mark to confirm their plans for Thursday night. Who would have guessed that Mark couldn't confirm plans with Jennifer because he was waiting for Michelle to confirm?? Thursday came and went and none of us went on a date because we were all stuck in "dating gridlock"

Couch Date

Having a man or woman over to the house under the guise of a "Movie Night" or "Cook you dinner" scenario but the real 'Date' usually consists of commitment-free sex after consuming alcohol while 'Relaxing' on a couch. Often referenced by online daters as such when meeting a new person for the first time at ones home rather than public forum.

"Hey Brian, wannna hit the bar and watch the game after work?"

"Man, I wish I could but I got a couch date tonight"

"That new chick from POF that you started talking to yesterday?"

"Yea... That reminds me, I need to buy condoms and Bacardi"

Fake Dating

When two people embark on an activity together that could be construed as a date, such as bowling, cinema, or even coffee.

Whether there is interest or not, this action shall be observed as a fake date due to the one to one nature. This could be done deliberately by two people interested in each other who aren't classing it as a date for whatever reason (example a), or accidentally by two friends or acquaintances attempting to merely enjoy each other's company (example b).

Example A -

Josh: You fancy going out for a coffee?

Georgia: I like you but I just broke up with my boyfriend, I don't want to date again straight away.

Josh: Well then let's just be fake dating?

Example B -

Brendon: You wanna go to the cinema later dude?

Charlie: But won't it look a bit weird, like we're dating or something?

Brendon: Nah everyone knows we'd be fake dating
