Surreal

Surreal stems from the word Surrealism. In Surrealism, art was used in a way that offered two pictures but illusioned to remain as one picture. In today's terms, "surreal" means "a state of mind that cannot believe what is happening is actually happening." Another example is when a person is hallucinating from the ingestion of a psychedelic. Though we cannot see what they are seeing, what they are seeing is very much real to them.
This is so surreal, "how did prisoners in California receive unemployment compensation during the pandemic?"
