Emo. A sub culture of well off, white, middle class, suburbanite, teenage/twentysomethings, that don't have any real cause for stress in their lives. As this is seen as unacceptable in societies where self proclaimed victimization is seen as a cause and excuse for any possible act. Emo's hence resort to bemoaning their predicment (Otherwise known as emotional masterbation), when 95% of the worlds poulation would quite gladly kill them for what these little twats have handed to them. They also find/express their individuality by dressing and acting like all the other twats which call themselves emo.

Emo people who cut their wrist sideways when everybody knows you do it with the vain if you mean business.

Emo, (AKA Emocutwristalotitis) People who have a physical disorder that makes them unable to smile, causes their tear ducts to uncontrollably water, tune their ears into a minor key and causes 45 degree angled black hair to sprout!

Doctor: Seems you have Emocutwristalotitis, you should stay away from MCR, razor blades and hair straighteners if you wish to be cured!

Emo is basically a more complex version of punk. It targets the feeling of the audience and originated in 1980. People like to take the mick out of emos coz apparently we are self harming idiots that like attention, this is not true because you don't have to hate yourself to be an emo. that is a load of rubbish....

basically means you listen to different punk bands, and (or) screamo, if thats what you like. It has nothing to do with cutting, but although some emo's include cutting because cutting is an emotional disorder where you feel relief in hurting yourself due to internal feelings, but caused externally. Most emos are very shy at first, but optimistic when you begin to get to know them, they are often judged because of what they wear. And to be honest, being emo is just a style. Just like preppy is a style, and grunge is a style.

Alot of people tend to think lead singer of the band BLACK VEIL BRIDES andy biersack is emo, but he isn't...he just dresses that way. He's also reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy sexy.

In the 1980s they were called "punk". Same thing as emo. Emo is not a new thing, but the word emo is new. If you know what "punks" were in the 80s and how they dressed and acted, well, that is what an emo is in 2011. Same thing different label.

If the punk kid in 1985 was sent forward in a time machine to the year 2011 they would call him an Emo.
