Adventurous types climb onto the roof of a bus (usually from the top of the bus stop shelter) and ride the bus from the outside thereby avoiding paying bus fare and getting a cheap (free) thrill. City surfing can be done sitting, standing or laying down. It is advisable to lay down if law enforcement is in visible range in an attempt avoid being seen and thus apprehended.
