No matter what image somebody is going for, getting to do anything you wanted to without getting disciplined for it isn't a strict childhood.

The bubbly girl bullied people because she had too little discipline as a kid, not too much. She thought calling her childhood strict would make her sound tough instead of the soft, nerdy kid that she really was.

Authoritative or authoritarian by nature.

The kid that thinks everyone else is uptight is usually the one that bullies because of too little discipline, not too much of a strict or authoritative childhood from either parent. A kid that remembers their parent mostly for singing and games didn't have the strict childhood they claim to have had, no matter what image they're going for.
