Overrated

Something (Whether it be a Movie, Band, Song, etc.) that gets more credit and fame than it necessary. I find it sad when someone uses this website to trashtalk a band (Master Shake and GnR). It's even sadder when he and his friend are the only people to give his definition thumbs up.

Nirvana is an overrated band.
Gangsta Rap is an overrated music genre.
Master Shake is an overrated human being.

Here are some examples of things that AREN'T overrated:
Slash is NOT overrated.
Guns N' Roses are NOT overrated.

Overrated

A word used (often incorrectly) by pretentious hipster snot bags to describe something or someone they don't care for, especially when they are describing something that is extremely popular or well known (such as The Beatles or Batman). Usually they use the word to sound cool and edgy, when really they sound like a giant asshole.

What "overrated" actually means is something is more highly appraised than it should be, which isn't necessarily bad.

Garret: Man, I hate the fucking Beatles! They're so fucking overrated!
Sam: Really? Are you saying that just because you don't like their music? I don't think you understand what that word means.

When something becomes overly popular and attains a fandom or fanboys/girls, who proceed to claim it is better than it actually is, to the point of utter retardation. A certain way to make something overrated is to have ignorant people embrace it, who will then employ all their ignorant and illogical might to defend it being questioned by anyone with a logical sense.

Examples of tings that have become Overrated as a cause of extreme and unjust popularity:

Ironically enough, the most overrated adjective ever! Used by bitter snobs who hate on people who are interested in different tastes like a bunch of children. Usually a sign of immaturity, insecurity, unabashed racism, emasculating tendencies to nerd rage, and a life so unfulfilling that they actually give a shit about meaningless dichotomy.

Music elitist: Rap Music is overrated garbage, I wish people would listen to Metal instead!
Video game elitist: Fortnite is overrated garbage, I wish people would play Final Fantasy like I do!
