Get the Slash mug.During a Guns and Roses Appetite for Destruction tour of 1987 there was an incident at the Roxy, Hollywood gig where the drummer Steven Adler tried to dye Slashes hair blonde while he was passed out at the post gig party. The blonde and black made it a slightly orangey, yellow colour. The rest of the band members decided his hair looked like streaks of piss, and hence the term "Going for Slash" was coined.

Get the Slash mug.In computing. Slashness refers to how path separator, commonly '/' and '\', is oriented in it's string representation.
Wally is mad at Windows(tm) reversed slashness path representation because he's losing precious time while every other OSes uses forward slashness.

Get the Slash mug.Unconfirmed, but implied to be an unusual American military slang term for fuel ethanol. In particular, potable cane alchohol used to fuel modified vehicle engines or possibly purpose-built multifuel engines -- in places where war damage has reduced access to petroleum-based fuels. If genuine, the term may derive from the work of hard laborers using blades to harvest sugar cane fields.
Term appears in a short fiction story by S. M. Sterling, entitled “Lost Legion."
