Hashtag

1. originally a computer programming term. The # was put at the beginning of a line of description that is not a command.

2. Also used to identify words in digital communications. Anal people hate it but it no different than "Gag me with a spoon" or "Grody to the max" or "like" - good 80s terms.
1. #(hashtag) divide by 2 (without the word hashtag)
2. #gagmewithaspoon

Hashtag

A trendy and mysterious term used to bring order to social media. Two or three generations are still reeling from the confusion caused by hashtag supplanting pound sign without acknowledgment or fanfare.
Baby boomer Bob was never informed that pound became hashtag. He brought shame on himself and his ancestors when he tried to get involved on a grassroots level with what he thought was the PoundMeToo movement.
