'S' is commonly used at the end of a message to represent sex. Similar to 'X' in the UK (kisses) and 'Xs and Os' (kisses and hugs) in North America, 'S' could be used between two people of the same sex without being regarded as homosexual. Usually more Ss means more intense sexual tension between the two parties.

The parenthetical S functions as an abbreviated version of the terms “seriously”, “for serious”, and “I am being serious here” for use in electronic-text based conversation. Where it is usually difficult to decipher whether or not the sender of a text based message (IM, email, cell phone text, etc.) is being sarcastic or playful, the use of the (S) aides the message sender in communicating to the message receiver that the information being transmitted is, in fact, the real deal.

The new Nick Lachey album is actually pretty good (S).

The act of ass-raping a troll on the Internet by countering his/her shit-spouting with a long, well written, logical, and lengthy argument (ideally containing a number of points labeled A to S).

X: "Some douchebag on 4chan was totally trolling on /b/, so I gave him a three page essay--with a bibliography--on why he was a complete dumb fuck."
